Description / 1/2 in. PEX-B x 3/4 in. Female Sweat Copper Pipe Adapter (Lead Free DZR Brass NSF F1807 PEX Crimp Fitting)
The 247Garden 1/2 in. PEX-B x 3/4 in. Female Sweat Copper Pipe Adapter is a professional-grade plumbing fitting designed for secure, reliable transitions from copper tubing to PEX-B piping. Constructed from lead-free, DeZincification Resistant (DZR) brass, this fitting meets ASTM F1807 standards and is NSF certified, providing a durable, safe, and leak-resistant connection for potable water and hydronic heating systems.
Key Features and Benefits:
-
Compatibility: Designed for use with all PEX-B pipe/tubing and standard copper tubing.
-
Durable Construction: Lead-free DZR brass ensures long-term corrosion resistance and strength.
-
PEX Crimp System: Works with PEX-B crimp rings and compatible crimp tools (sold separately). Not compatible with cold-expansion systems.
-
Certified and Safe: NSF certified for potable water; compliant with ASTM F1807, UPC, IPC, and cUPC standards.
-
Temperature and Pressure Ratings: Suitable for typical residential and commercial hot and cold water applications.
Tips & Tricks – Step-by-Step Installation:
Step 1: Prepare the Copper Pipe
-
Cut the copper pipe squarely and remove any burrs with a deburring tool.
-
Clean the outside of the copper pipe and the inside of the female brass fitting using a wire brush or emery cloth for optimal solder adhesion.
Step 2: Apply Flux
-
Apply a thin, even layer of lead-free flux to both the copper pipe and the fitting. Flux ensures proper flow of solder and prevents oxidation during heating.
Step 3: Solder the Copper Connection
-
Heat the fitting evenly with a propane torch until the flux begins to bubble.
-
Touch lead-free solder to the joint; it should flow by capillary action around the pipe to create a leak-proof seal.
-
Let the joint cool naturally before proceeding.
Step 4: Prepare the PEX-B Pipe
-
Slide a PEX crimp ring over the end of the PEX-B pipe.
-
Insert the pipe fully onto the fitting barb.
Step 5: Crimp the PEX-B Connection
-
Use a compatible PEX crimp tool to secure the crimp ring, ensuring a tight, leak-free seal.
-
Verify the crimp with a go/no-go gauge if available.
Applications:
Ideal for potable water systems, hydronic heating systems, and any plumbing project requiring a secure, durable transition from copper to PEX-B piping.
