Step 1: Prepare the Copper Pipe

• Cut the copper pipe squarely and remove burrs with a deburring tool.

• Clean the outside of the copper pipe and inside of the female brass fitting with a wire brush or emery cloth.

Step 2: Apply Flux

• Apply a thin layer of lead-free flux to both the copper pipe and the fitting to ensure proper solder flow and prevent oxidation.

Step 3: Solder the Copper Connection

• Heat the fitting evenly with a propane torch until the flux bubbles.

• Touch lead-free solder to the joint, allowing it to flow by capillary action for a secure, leak-proof seal.

• Allow the joint to cool completely before proceeding.

Step 4: Prepare the PEX-A Pipe

• Slide a PEX-A expansion sleeve/ring over the end of the PEX-A pipe.

• Use a compatible cold-expansion tool (sold separately) to expand the pipe evenly.

Step 5: Insert PEX-A Pipe into Fitting
