Tips & Tricks – Step-by-Step Installation:
Step 1: Prepare the Copper Pipe
-
Cut the copper pipe squarely and remove burrs with a deburring tool.
-
Clean the outside of the copper pipe and the inside of the female brass fitting using a wire brush or emery cloth.
Step 2: Apply Flux
-
Apply a thin, even layer of lead-free flux to the cleaned copper pipe and fitting for proper solder flow.
Step 3: Solder the Copper Connection
-
Heat the fitting evenly with a propane torch until the flux bubbles.
-
Apply lead-free solder around the joint; allow solder to be drawn by capillary action to create a secure, leak-proof connection.
-
Let the joint cool naturally before proceeding.
Step 4: Prepare the PEX-B Pipe
-
Slide a PEX crimp ring over the end of the PEX-B pipe.
-
Insert the pipe fully into the fitting’s barb.
Step 5: Crimp the PEX Connection
-
Use a compatible PEX crimp tool to secure the crimp ring around the pipe, ensuring a tight, leak-free seal.
-
Verify the crimp with a go/no-go gauge if available.
Applications:
Ideal for potable water systems, hydronic heating systems, and any plumbing project requiring a secure transition from copper to PEX-B piping.
