Installation Tips – Step-by-Step:
Step 1: Prepare the 3/4 in. Female Copper Fitting
-
Clean the inside of the female copper fitting with a wire brush or emery cloth to remove oxidation and debris.
Step 2: Apply Flux and Solder
-
Apply a thin layer of lead-free flux to the male sweat end and the inside of the 3/4 in. female fitting.
-
Heat evenly with a propane torch until the flux bubbles.
-
Touch lead-free solder to the joint and allow it to flow via capillary action, forming a secure, leak-proof connection.
-
Allow the joint to cool naturally.
Step 3: Prepare the 1/2 in. PEX Pipe
-
Slide a PEX crimp ring over the end of the 1/2 in. PEX pipe.
-
Fully insert the pipe onto the PEX barb fitting.
Step 4: Crimp the PEX Connection
-
Use a compatible PEX crimp tool to secure the ring.
-
Verify the crimp with a go/no-go gauge if available.
Applications:
Ideal for potable water distribution, hydronic heating systems, and plumbing projects requiring a 90-degree reducing transition from 1/2 in. PEX to 3/4 in. female copper fittings.
